Technical Specifications
I/O capacity supports up to 8 modules per rack and up to 8 racks for 64 modules total. Supported baud rates are 38.4 kbaud, 76.8 kbaud, and 153.6 kbaud. Bus address range is 0-31 configurable. Two Genius terminals provide main and redundant connections. Power consumption is 250 mA at 5V and 10 mA at 3.3V. Terminating resistor options are 75, 100, 120, and 150 ohms. Weight is 0.33 lbs.
Functional Features
Dual Genius bus terminals support main and backup network connections. Daisy-chain wiring topology simplifies installation. LED indicators include PWR, OK, FAULTS, I/O ENBL, FORCE, SBA ERR, and BUS B. Hot-swap capability allows module replacement without system shutdown. Compatible with Series 90-70, PACSystems RX3i, and RX7i controllers.
Application Scenarios
Integration with legacy GE Genius networks, distributed I/O in process control, manufacturing systems requiring deterministic communication, and brownfield automation upgrades.

Performance Parameters
153.6 kbaud extended rate supports fast data exchange. 1024 discrete I/O points per scan handle large I/O counts. Token-passing protocol ensures deterministic scan behavior.
Material Composition
Industrial housing with dual terminal blocks and internal Genius protocol processor.
Structural Characteristics
Compact module with two Genius bus terminals. DIN rail or panel mount compatible. Configurable baud rate and device address via rotary switches.
Working Principle
The module operates as a Genius slave device, scanning connected I/O modules and exchanging data with the Genius bus controller. It translates Genius protocol commands to backplane I/O operations.
Installation Requirements
Use high-quality shielded twisted-pair cabling. Ground cable shield at a single point, typically at the bus controller. Maintain minimum distance from high-voltage power lines.
Usage Precautions
Verify unique device address to avoid I/O presence alarms. Install proper terminating resistor matching network impedance. Keep a pre-configured spare module for emergency recovery. Ground shield only at the bus controller to prevent ground loops.
