Technical Specifications
Synchronization rate: 100Mbps. Current draw: 1.2A @ 5.1V DC, 4mA @ 1.2V DC, 120mA @ 24V DC. Power dissipation: 9W. Thermal dissipation: 31 BTU/hr. Operating temperature range: 0°C to +60°C. Storage temperature range: -40°C to +85°C. Connection interface: fiber optic or copper redundancy cable. Slot width: 1. Certifications: UL, CE, CSA.
Functional Features
It provides automatic controller synchronization for program, I/O, and status data. Seamless switchover occurs with no process interruption during primary controller failure. Front panel status LEDs indicate redundancy state and system health. It supports both fiber and copper redundancy cables for different distance requirements. It integrates comprehensive diagnostic and fault logging functions.
Application Scenarios
It is essential for continuous process control systems, oil and gas production facilities, power generation plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, water distribution systems, and any application requiring maximum system availability and minimum downtime.
Performance Parameters
Synchronization data rate: 100Mbps. Controller switchover time: bumpless transfer with no process interruption. Power dissipation: 9W. Operating temperature range: 0°C to +60°C. Vibration resistance: 2G @ 10Hz to 500Hz. Shock resistance: 30G.
Structural Characteristics
It features standard single-slot ControlLogix form factor with metal shielding enclosure, front panel status indicators (PRI, COM, OK), redundancy cable connector, and high-speed backplane interface.
Working Principle
It establishes a dedicated high-speed synchronization link between two ControlLogix controllers, continuously updating the secondary controller with all program, I/O, and status data from the primary. When a primary fault is detected, it initiates automatic switchover to the secondary controller, which takes over control without process interruption.
Installation Requirements
Install one module in each of the primary and secondary chassis. Use approved 1756-RMC series redundancy cables. Ensure both controllers run identical firmware versions. Configure redundancy parameters via Studio 5000 software. Verify proper system grounding.
