It acts as the physical and electrical interface between field wiring and Flex I/O electronic modules. It routes power, common, and signal connections from field terminals to the plug-in I/O module via the internal Flex bus, and provides mechanical mounting and strain relief for field wiring.

Mount on standard 35mm DIN rail. Use 22-14 AWG solid or stranded copper wire rated at 90°C. Tighten terminal screws to 0.79-1.02 N·m torque. Ensure reliable protective grounding connection. Mount I/O modules firmly onto the terminal base until locked in place.
